Plus she spends most of her free time sleeping behind me on the back of my recliner. That includes playing, rubbing her belly, etc. I'd say I spend about 30 combined minutes with her per day. It's been 10 years since I've had a 4 year old cat and I'm wondering if I'm giving her enough attention. Two weeks later she started getting comfortable around me enough to spend most of her time not hiding and now it's like I've had her for years. Around mid August it started getting lonely in here so I got a 4 year old rescue cat. I guess she doesn't see that one as a threat.Īs mentioned in another thread, my cat of 14 1/2 years passed away in July. However, if I give the belly rub with my foot, she purrs contentedly. She'll expose her belly to me (sometimes at the expense of falling off the bed like NORML's cat the best part of that is the look on their face when they realize they're going to fall), but if I indulge the belly rub with my HAND, teeth and claws are the result. Adopted her at 5, when I went into the shelter she ran right up to me and had her paws on my leg. Now I feel guilty for hurling mine across the bedroom this morning when she decided 4AM was a good time to wake up and have breakfast. Take it from me, cherish them as much as possible before they are gone.Great. I got him cat nip, brushed him, played with him via laser pointer regularly, but the thing you have to realize is, you are their entire life. Eventually I probably just got so used to having him around I took him for granted. I looked through some pictures I had and realized I spent much more time playing with him when he was younger, between 1-5 years old. My cat recently passed away at 12 years and I've spent a lot of time thinking about how I could have been a better pet owner. No matter how much time you spend with your cat, it's probably not enough.
